Dawn Sizer Wrote for Managed Services Journal on the Top Cybersecurity Threats of 2025

A historical byline, not current threat guidance: in early 2025, our CEO wrote for Managed Services Journal on why small businesses end up the easier target.

Why small businesses are the easier target

Her piece cited Verizon's 2024 Data Breach Investigations Report: small and midsize businesses face more attacks year over year than enterprises do, in part because attackers follow the path of least resistance, and because a meaningful share of small businesses run with no cybersecurity measures in place at all.

The human element

She also pointed to the training gap as a major factor. A large share of small-business employees receive no cybersecurity training, which shows up directly in how often credential theft succeeds.

A framework, not a checklist

Her recommendation was to lean on an established framework like CIS Controls, since it maps cleanly to other standards like HIPAA and CJIS and produces the documentation cyber insurers already expect to see.

A note on timing

This piece reflects the industry data available in early 2025, not a current threat assessment. For where things actually stand today, see Cybersecurity Services or a current Quarterly Recap on this Blog.
